LA TROPA F
2. LA TROPA F  (Saturday, July 12, 2008)
La Tropa F, an old favorite, performed this past Saturday for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe's Recognition of their new council.
The tribe really went all out for this celebration as white tents, tables & tablecloths covered the entire west side of the AVA Amphitheater and served a wide array of food.
Opening up for La Tropa F was Tucson's own Passion Band.  Al always tears it up on Accordion and is one of the State's best accordionists!  Be sure to catch one of their shows if you get the chance.
Many thanks to the gentleman who got my friends and I backstage, on stage (lol!) & into the green room.  You rock!

After the show, we headed over to the Casino del Sol and caught a group that I had never had the chance to hear before.  Los Nawdy Dawgs!  They're a Latin Blues band that plays an wide range of music...including some of my favorties from Mana.  It was great meeting you guys and hope to see you again real soon!  You can hear some of Los Nawdy Dawg's music on Myspace.  www.myspace.com/losnawdydawgs
Enjoy the pics!

FLACO JIMENEZ, MAX BACA & iMAS
17. FLACO JIMENEZ, MAX BACA & iMAS  (Friday, March 21, 2008)
iMAS, from Tucson, played their first show here in Phoenix Friday night!  They put on an excellent show as always and were the opening group for Flaco Jimenez and Max Baca.
The very first time we had seen Flaco & Max perform was right here in AZ.  This was many, many years ago.  They had played at the Pinal County Fair in Casa Grande, along with The Texas Tornado's, and Eddie's dad's conjunto opened up for them.   It's great seeing Flaco & Max still working together at different events still pounding out that Tex-Mex Music we all know and love.  Puro Accordion Y Bajo Sexto!

FAMA IN ARIZONA
23. FAMA IN ARIZONA  (Saturday, September 22, 2007)
Javier Galvan and Grupo Fama headlined the City of Avondale's Fiestas Patrias this past weekend.  Like many groups, Fama has been through many changes in the past few years, and has held strong to bring us a new CD titled, "Como Antes".  All the original band members along with new member, Bobby Ramirez, put on a great show here in Arizona with that classic Fama sound, that we all know and love.
...After the show, and with a little encouragement...(LOL!)..Javier and the guys accepted our invite to a local hot spot, Henry Jack's Place.  Sangre Caliente from Tucson, was the band for the night and always heats things up wherever they play. In between their sets, Fama took the stage to perform a few of our favorite songs from the past.
Many thanks to you Javier, John, Israel, Eddie & Bobby for the time you took to appease a few of your long-time fans.  Us!  LOL!  You guys are great!
