A great loss, a young man who followed in the same footsteps of legendary paratroopers of old, who fought and stood up for the same principles which this great nation was founded upon.
Having served as a trooper for 21 years myself, and losing so much over the years, in the wars and conflicts that I served in; I know what the family has gone through in these years past. My love and hearts go out to all of the family in their great loss.
My son, a paratrooper as well, is in his third tour in Iraq now, and should be home by Christmas of this year, my prayers are that I don’t share the same fate as this great family, but if so, I know that my son stands for the same principles that I taught him and he stands for this great country of ours, same as Chris did. Great men are not born; they become great men by their actions alone.
My love and condolences to this great family and all the families who have suffered this type of loss. Support our troops, honor our veterans.

Dear Mason Family,
    Chris touched a lot of people, both here is the unit and abroad.  The world we walk seems a little darker with him not around.  I remember all the times he would come up to me and ask, in that deep southern drawl, "whats your favorite book?"  I still don't have an answer for him.

Mr. and Mrs. Mason, I just want to let you know how sorry I am for the loss of Chris. I know it is a bit late but it has taken me this long to do so for various reasons.  I remember that December day that I spoke with my son Aaron and I asked him if he knew "Chris Mason?" He said yes ma'am and at that time I noticed a whole change in his voice.  Shortly thereafter, my son came home for bloc leave and his story begins.  The day Chris died my son did as well.  His struggles, with Chris' death, remain a battle in his mind and I know they will always be there. Although Aaron never went back after his bloc leave, he is still fighting the war in his head. Seems to be that Chris, although lower in rank, had the utmost respect of my son, which few men have been able to do. I know that Chris touched his life in more ways than one.  He speaks of Chris trying to help him with his beliefs of God and that he got him into reading the bible.  Although I do not know either of your personally, I cannot go through Mobile without having a total breakdown because I am thinking of your son and each time I see the sadness in my son's eyes, I know Chris is there. I never met Chris but I can am forever grateful for him witnessing to my son. Somehow I think that this has been the only thing that has kept Aaron going.  Know that Chris has touched our lives in more ways than one.  I only wish Chris was here for me to thank him personally.  There is not a day that goes by that you and yours are not in my thoughts and prayers.   May peace be with you.

Thank you for the request. I am more than honored. Chris is an American Hero, his site is hard to look at though. I have a lump in my throat and my heart goes out to his family.I have 3 sons and all of them were in the Air Force before the Irag days. They are all out now, Chris was the same age as one of my sons. Although I pray for our troops I shamefully admit I did not pray daily for them. Hopefully everyone who sees Chris's site will be moved to pray earnestly and daily for our soldiers. I am so sorry for your loss and I am so glad you hold fast to the future of seeing Chris again in Heaven. That is a truth I wish every parent who has lost a son or daughter would come to know and take comfort in. I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. My husband is currently recieving his training at Gulfport, MS. He is due to ship out sometime in Febuary. We have two children together. They are 7 and 11. My heart goes out to you and everyone who has lost a loved one over there. I know it is very hurtful to watch my children in such pain because they are loosing their father for awhile.I am not sure how to comfort them and Lord knows I wish I could take away their pain. There are so many families that have had to say good bye and wonder if they would ever see their loved one again. Just like your son, MY husband feels it is his duty to defend our country. It angers me of the disrespect that you as a mother received from your workplace. Not only a mother but one of a soldier who we all should be thankful of. That quote its no different than losing a home to a fire, that home can be replaced. My grandfather(army) served and so did my father(navy)who has both passed away. Words cannot express the sadness in my heart.  I realize it has been over a year since your son passed away, but you see, I am a Marine momma.  My son is just about to complete his third and final tour of defending our country.  In our family, we pride ourselves on the fact that we will never forget those that gave their all.  My son lost over 26 friends in Iraq.  It hasn't been easy, but each time God blesses us with his presence, we are sure always to remember those that we less fortunate than us.  May God bless you and your family, always and forever.

My daughter's father was also in the Army & I was ALWAYS scared we were going to lose him! Part of me wants to say that fortunately he was honorably discharged, but maybe that makes me sound selfish. I don't mean for it to by no means! I'm sure all spouses & family members feel that way sometimes! My ex still wishes that he hadn't been discharged because he, like Chris, wanted to fight for his country! As I sat looking at the videos of your son's life and death I was moved to tears, followed by great racking sobs, I am outraged by the callousness of the RiteAid corp. I live in a small town who has just gotten a RiteAid in the last six months.Needless to say I will not spend one more red cent of mine in that store. My heart goes out to your family, who have suffered so much, just to have another heartless corporation slap you in the face. If you derive even a small measure of comfort from this remember the Bible says that we reap what we sow. I wonder if the "big wigs" @ RiteAid have ever read our Lord's words? I never had the honor to meet your wonderful son, and my heart aches for your terrible loss. I do however feel priveleged to know that I can lay down in sleep in peace knowing that our fine sons and daughters fight for my freedom eveyday. As a PGR member, I was honored to ride in procession at Chris's funeral. I was given the privilege of presenting a flag & military medal shadow box to Chris's parents at his gravesite and was fortunate enough to be invited to Chris's "Birthday Celebration" at his gravesite along with many of my PGR brothers and sisters.
I did not know Christopher Mason when he stood on this earth, but I am proud to call him friend and I proudly wear a patch honoring him on my motorcycle helmet.
Some Sunday mornings while out riding my bike, I find myself riding up to his gravesite, say hello, think about it all for a minute and a peace comes to me. As I leave Chris, I am much calmer then when I came. He is special in that way and I am certain that he was the same in real life.

WOW...what an awesome memorial for your son, who oh so deserves it!  Like many others have said, I didn't know your son, but I am glad I had a chance to learn about him through this myspace profile.  It gave me the chills to not only see how he was fighting for our country, but his great love for GOD!!  I look up to him for his courage to fight for our country, but also, because I would love to be able to be so much stronger with my walk with God, just like your son. Dear Mason Family & Friends!  I did not have the pleasure to know your Chris, but it's obvious that he was an awesome person.  I am merely writing you this Tribute as the mother of a soldier who has served one tour of duty in Iraq, and who will most likely return sooner than I would like.  A tiny piece of my heart breaks off every time that I hear that one of our soldiers has been taken.  I wrote a poem about a year ago while my son was in Iraq that I would like to share with you.  I wrote it, just to remind myself that "angels were riding on his soldier".  Now, your Chris is one of those Angels.  My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.  You're so right!!!  Chris will NEVER be forgotten!

My heart goes out to the family of Cpl Mason and to all the other families with fallen soldiers. Yes we say that they have now joined God's Army, but I believe in my heart that God would have a special place just for them. A place of honor and happiness. For that is what they deserve.

Sometimes though not fast enough.I have 2 sons in Iraq right now,and I pray everyday they stay safe & try to look out for each other.But I'm hoping Chris will be their guardian angel & keep them out of harms way.With the holidays coming,I will keep you & your family in my prayers,hoping that Chris's memory will bestill in everyones hearts. GREAT souls like chris are the reason we have our freedom today. I never met this gentlemen but i came accross this website and his story was so touching. My family thanks your family for the sacrifices you have made.  Your son is one of a group of rare people who sacrifice wholeheartedly, for God and country.  I think it's wonderful that he was so devoted to the Lord, and to give encouragement to all those who needed it.

He is definitely up there amongst God's Angels, a leader, a warrior, and a hero.  I feel safer knowing that not only are there heroes down here fighting for our freedom, but that there are heroes like him watching over our spiritual freedom.

My loving prayers go out to you as another 'milestone' is passed. May Creator wrap you in His loving arms, surrounding you with His awesome love.
We know the pain of losing a child. Our son, Ross, was killed in an auto accident on 2 Sept, '06. Ross left behind our only grandson, Hunter, who just turned 2. All of the 'firsts' we've faced together, joined with a deep faith and love of God, family and Country. The sheer pain of holding your child, clenched tightly in death's embrace, is nothing compared to the joy of knowing we WILL see him again.
May all of our Heroes rest with the Angels.

Some soldiers enlist, hoping to figure out what they were meant to be..  Some soldiers enlist because that is what they were born to be.  Freedom is never free.
  It is obvious to me, Chris was a soldier before he ever chose to be. It is obvious to me because I was born free.  If there was ever a trustworthy messenger who could carry our message to the throne of GOD himself, that is where I would expect to find Chris, adorned with the final judgement: "Well done good a faithful servant"
