Add-on lenses for most cameras
This shows some of the different lenses I am using to see how they work. They can be used on any lens or camera-- when you can attach them with a step ring. Compare their size by the film cans on the right side. (These are just
a small example of my collection.)

My PowerMac G4
A PowerMac G4 with dual 1 gig processors. I use dual monitors also and OSX 10.9. I'm on Cox Cable-- downloads at 10 Mps. Fun to use!
I print to 8x10 on an Epson C62 and larger on the Epson 2200. For really big prints,--I go to Kodak (20x30).

Wild Onion 10
A Macro from five feet! Adding a diopter then
the 2X Lenmar tele add-on allows macros from
4-6 feet. Great--especially with critters.

Extreme Macro
A2 lens to 200mm, Plus the TC200 tele add-on with the macro mode active. I use the "flex" AF--many times shooting blind. I have the sound turned on and put the "X" on the subject. Half depress the shutter and when the camera "dings", means the focus is locked and I finish the shot. Exposure is center weighted. Works great! So this was a 400mm macro result.

Bee tea time
These bug shots were all taken with the TC-200 tele add-on lens. This gave me a 400 mm Macro so I could stay twice the distance from the subject and not get stung! The camera is the Minolta A2, and IMO, the best fixed lens camera available! The flower is about one inch (25 mm) tall.

Wasp on Rose
What a beautiful creature! The roses have a lot of them visiting. They seem to be chewing little bits of the leaves and are most likely building a nest.

Eye to eyes with a Honey Bee!
There's a whole world in your backyard,--you
just have to look for it! You might come eye to eye with a lot of things.
This was taken with a .42X in macro mode with the Minolta A2, only 2 inches from my friend.

Yellow dozen,--in process.
'King's Ransom' floribunda rose here has over a dozen buds forming for blossoms.
This was with a .42X WA to carry the perspective i wanted of the whole branch. Lovely!

Double Rainbow AGAIN!
Never thought I'd capture it again! Both ends of a Double Rainbow! I took the first one a couple of years ago,-- and walked out front and it happened again. What a treat! Grabbed my .42X
and hand held it in front of the lens,-- couldn't find the step ring!

That Rarest of Moments ! (2003)
For over 60 years, every time I've seen a Rainbow, I wished I could photograph both ends in the same picture. This occurred a few days ago almost over my house. I grabbed my D-7ug and put my Fujiyama .43 fish-eye lens on--called my wife to see it, and for two glorious minuets, we watched (me shooting like crazy)until it disappeared. I don't think I'll ever see this again.

Gallery Lavender
This is with a new lens sent to me by a friend. It is a CANON C-8 1.6x tele
used in macro mode. Tack sharp and will become a favorite! Buds are about one inch tall.
C-8 lens has a 48mm thread.

Fisheye pool
This was taken with an inexpensive little 0.5X = 14mm. One side of this lens gives 0.5X, turn it around and shoot from the other side and it becomes a 1.5x tele (poorer quality

Candy barrels
This was taken with a .42x WA --but from only a foot away. This really gives a different picture than just standing there taking a normal view of things. I like the change.

1 Lone Fisherman
When the first fisherman hits the lake, you know Spring isn't far behind! Taken with a 0.42x set at about 40mm to get a good wide view. The flares are intentional to give the early morning feel to the picture.

Plum Spring
In between the rains, I looked outside and my Plum tree has sprung into spring! I took this with the .42x WA so I could get in nice and close to open up this beautiful little bouquet of blossoms. I was about four inches from them. This is with my UG2, a second D-7 I picked up from Ebay. Love the colors!

Fantasty of Angels
Even a so-called "bad" lens has uses. Many of you would have discarded this
center focus WA .43x. I pulled it out to use, because I wanted the fantasy look of the focus fading off the frame. The focus is now centered on the "Dancing Angel's" I think it's beautiful!

Little something
This was taken with the camera lens out to 200mm macro and the LENMAR 2.0x added --giving a 400mm macro photo that allowed me to stay twice the distance away and not spook the critter. Excellent glass!

800mm with the D-7ug
On the other end of the scale. This is the LENMAR 2.0x tele, with the camera lens at 200mm plus the 2.0x,plus the 2x digital zoom bringing it out to 800mm for a really close view.

Ambico I ran across. No vignet after 75mm. I have "Big
Sister" of the same size 0.6x . He's four inches across the front lens.
They do a good job!

Plumaria 'Frangipani'
This was taken with a new addition WA. A AMBICO 0.5 WA
with the prime lens set at 50mm. Distance to subject was about 8 inches. I really like these WA's for close shots. Added a small black frame just to spice it up!

600mm Fujiyama
3X is pushing a little too far. there is vignetting thru
out to 600mm -- Shoot in Tiff and crop out the round frame.
Shooting through a lot of haze today on these long shots, not as crisp as a sunny day!

Fujiyama 3X extended to 1200mm
Extend the camera lens to 200mm,add the 3X = 600mm then
use the 2X digital zoom and
you have a 1200mm telephoto. if you shoot in tiff you will have more than enough megs to
make a great photo.

200mm + TC 200 +2X Digital zoom
This is a picture I took of the Lunar Eclipse. The D-7 lens is at 200mm,the TC 200 added AND the 2X digital zoom option used. This then becomes 800mm! It was shot in TIFF so a good sized file. In the 50mm view, this would be in the center top of the frame. This was taken at 8:30 at night,--it was dark.

Grasshopper with RCA 1.5x
300mm macro with the RCA 1.5x.
Camera lens at 200mm+the 1.5x=300mm,with macro setting on. This allowed me to stay back farther by half and not spook the grasshopper. Nice piece of glass.

Ambico 0.5X
The camera lens is set at 28mm add the 0.5x WA which divides that by half and you have this view at a 14mm perspective. Shoot it in TIFF, gives a 14meg file, crop off the vignet and you still have a squareish 6.2 meg file to work with. Plenty!

This is the Precisions Quartz
Fish eye of 0.42x. A really superior lens. This was shot with camera lens at 28mm so the view is about 10mm. It looses the vignette at around
50-60mm on the camera lens.

Raynox 1.5x at 300mm
A disappointment. For the money -- not good, corners are distorted --compared to the "cheap plasticly" Star next to here. Really have to try them to see "what works". This is NOT the
Raynox Pro 1540, but the one that comes in a cheaper set with a WA. This lens may need a spacer, will try later.

This is about the cheapest made lens, I have--plastic body but for some reason gives great photos. I think I paid $5.00 for it. You never know!

Hi Tech .42x
Although this lens is labeled as a .42x, look at how much more coverage it gives compared to the Precision .42x just before this. All lenses have different characteristics and can vary quite a bit. This is a great lens.

This lens has a 58mm thread and was for the full size VHS cameras. About the size of the Ambico 1.5x but weighs more than the camera, heavy and requires hand support. Gives wider coverage than some smaller lenses. See the end of the gallery for some comparisons.

Inside the Cactus Flower
Used the Precision 0.42x fisheye and got right inside the flower to give a fantastic view and angle to the working parts of the flower, was only a couple of inches from the subject. What a different view!

Apricot Rose
Even if the lens is one of those with central focus and really no good for a telephoto like this 1.5x is,you can try some "work-arounds" and in this case find a use for it. This shot shows that the "bad" edges make this a more interesting picture.

RCA Rose
Taken with the BIG (58mm threads) RCA 0.6x WA lens. Very heavy lens so must support it with your hand. Used the macro mode with full extension of the camera lens. A beautiful piece of glass!

Tele with CA
Shot with the No name 2.0X. (46mm threads) about 5 feet away so gives plenty of working room. The heavy CA because of the lighting and color is interesting to me. Not an expensive lens so not well corrected as most that I use.

Stacked two
This is trying something new! Stacking two add-on teleconverters together. The camera lens is at 200mm add the Raynox 1.5x AND then the Ricoh 1.5/2.0x. Camera is about nine feet from the subject. I'm going to try more of the "stacks" for the fun of it. (12/14/03)

Don't forget,-- even without the add-on lens,-
-the D7xx and Axx series cameras are capable
of shooting impressive macro pictures! This was the A2 extended to 200mm in macro mode. Lovely!!!!
