Diggin' in Virginia I (March 26-28, 2004)
March 26-28, 2004 60+ relic hunters from around the country arrived in Fredericksburg, VA to participate in a one-of-a-kind hunt of a lifetime...for three days these diggers excavated a Federal winter camp of what we now feel confident was 4th Michigan...saving this history from being lost to development. Here is their story in pictures. Note: to save download time, there are 30 images per page with multiple pages...don't miss one!

Diggin' in VA II (November 4-6, 2004)November 4-6, Stoneman's Switch
Fredericksburg, VA
On a chilly, wet November morning in VA, 125+ eager relic hunters took the field at the historic Stoneman's Switch...surface targets were abundant as well as the huts. Each hut that was dug, was catalogued for finds, measured for dimensions and features, marked for GPS coordinates, and flagged to be mapped by a surveyor. The rest is history... |
