Peanut in Madisonville, KY
(8 2008)

Peanut is about a year and a half old (born October 2006) and weighs about 16 lbs. She adores children of all ages and is very good with dogs but she chases (plays with) cats. Because her first owners never trained her or worked with her, she does have some "issues" she is working to overcome... jumping on the counter/kitchen table, taking food away from small children, running past you out the front door, and digging under a chain link fence. She is housebroken and crate trained. Peanut has been spayed and has her rabies vaccination, but she is allergic to the Parvo booster and will break out in a rash and get a swollen face. Her adoption fee is $100. To adopt, please contact Pet Lovers United at petlovers@vci.net.

Manny in San Antonio, TX
(8 2008)

Hi! My name is Manny. I am a 16-lb. male Rat Terrier. I'm only two years old. I love kids, cats, and other dogs. And I love being the center of attention and hate to be left alone. I am waiting for someone who wants a constant companion to take me home. I imagine hanging out on the couch watching TV together and having long conversations. If you are home a lot and need a great companion to keep you company, we may be looking for each other. Other pets are OK, as long as they leave me alone. My adoption fee is only $60, which includes neuter, vaccination, micrdochipping, and heartworm preventative. You'll also want to talk to my doctor, because I am on a special diet and take medication. I am at the Animal Defense League of Texas: www.adltexas.org, 210-655-1481. Come visit me!

Malone
Texarkana, Arkansas
(8 2008)

Malone was rescued from death row at The Texarkana Animal Shelter. He only has one eye so was not going to get a shot at the adoption floor. He is now one year old, weighing 11.3 pounds. Malone's foster mom says that he reminds her of a little soldier, as stands at attention waiting for your command. He only wants to please his person. He is a very patient, loving little lap dog. Malone is neutered, vaccinated (including rabies), heartworm negative and on preventative. His adoption fee is $45. You may call Amanda with The Poodle Patch & Friends Rescue of Texarkana at 903-701-3571 or email thepoodlepatchtexarkana@yahoo.com to request an application. Ricky in California
8/08

Ricky (aka "Tricky Ricky) is about 11 pounds and 2-1/2 years old. Sometimes he acts like he expects to get in trouble if he is goofing around, then is so surprised to find out it's ok to have a great time! He likes to run circles around chairs or other objects. He will play with his favorite squeaky frog for hours. He loves to be held and petted, and will give you a kiss very gently when you are rubbing his ears. He is ok with gentle dogs but chases cats. He is learning leash manners. Ricky is crate trained and generally housetrained but with an occasional accident, though he would be fine if he had access to the outdoors. He's the picture of health, with gleaming coat and eyes, and very muscular. Ricky is neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, up to date on vaccines. Ricky's fosterhome is in Browns Valley, CA, 1-1/2 hours north of Sacramento. Adoption fee is $150. For more info, contact Julie at 530-639-2240 or gsprescue@aol.com.

Lucky in California
8/08

Lucy (aka "Sushi") is about 11 pounds and 2-1/2 years old. This snuggle princess loves to root under the covers. She is very agile and athletic, and can jump straight up, flat footed, and look you in the face when you're preparing her meals or doing anything else interesting. She is ok with easy going dogs but chases cats. She hasn't been around children. Lucy is crate trained, housetrained, and is doing well with learning leash manners. Lucy is spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, up to date on vaccines. She'd love to have a home with her brother, Ricky, with whom she is bonded, sleeping and playing together so cute! Her fosterhome is in Browns Valley, CA, 1-1/2 hours north of Sacramento. Adoption fee is $150. For more info, contact Julie at 530-639-2240 or gsprescue@aol.com.

Sammie in Illinois
8/08

Sammie is a very energetic clown with the cutest little underbite! He weighs about 12 lbs. and is just 1-1/2 years old. Sammie is very loving and likes to "fetch" and play with other dogs. He's housebroken, neutered, up-to-date on immunizations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. We would prefer Sammie not be a "latchkey" dog, and that he be adopted by an individual, couple, or family with no small children, since he is very fine boned and could be inadvertently injured. Sammie would enjoy a safely fenced yard and a doggie playmate. He is being fostered in northern Illinois, and his adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in adopting Sammie, please email Marti at: frostwoods@powerweb.net.

Bunny in New York
(8/08)

My name is Bunny. I am an 8 year old Rat Terrier looking for my forever home because the puppymill didn’t want me anymore and I'm very glad about that.  Please don’t overlook me because of my age—I can live to be 12-15 years old so I really am in the best years of my life. I am up to date on my shots, spayed, and housebroken, and I do not have to be crated when I'm left alone. I'm not leash trained but may be able to learn with patience from my new family. I'm somewhat overweight, at over 20 lbs., so walks would probably do me good! I am currently living in a foster home with other dogs and cats and it's very nice but I'd really like a house and family of my own.  I'm a great companion, and I'd do well in a home with older children. My adoption fee is $125. I am being fostered in Painted Post, NY (near Corning). If you think that I am a match for your home, please email my foster mom at SmithJL8@corning.com and she will send you an application

Isadora in Georgia
7/15/08

Isadora has been someone's "one and only," and she is very distressed at the loss of her owner. She is looking for a home with a family without small kids (under 8). She is fine with other dogs, but doesn't play with them and would do fine as the only dog. Isadora is about 4 years old and weighs 15 lbs. She is friendly with people and would do best in a quiet home, perhaps with a less active, retired couple. She is housetrained, up to date on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative, wormed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $150. For more information or to apply to adopt, please go to http://www.dogpackrescue.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=680386.

He is also on medication and a special diet (estimated monthly cost of $50) for a controllable liver issue. Luke in Florida
7/20/08

Luke is a wonderful sweet little Rat/Jack mix that needs a home where he can be someone's love. He had a rough start to life and now he is ready to find out what being loved unconditionally feels like. He is 3-4 yrs old, and about 12 lbs. He loves all other dogs and every person he meets, but cats in the house probably wouldn't work. Luke is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and housebroken. He is just the perfect little guy! Luke's adoption fee is $150. He is located near Bradenton FL. If you have questions about Luke, please call 941-704-4765.
