"I am Atris, Jedi Master… the last historian of the Jedi… the last of the Jedi."
I was inspired to do this costume because it was so unique. I love the variation of the Jedi garb, especially with the Historian markings.
The costume was entered in a contest at Farpoint 08 and won a workmanship award. Improvements I would like to make are: wig, boots, and better blue contacts.
The skirt and shirt were done with a great deal of help from Kristin, unfortunatley, we were so swept up with how well the costume was turning out, we forgot to take pictures! Doh! The skirt is a full circle skirt and the shirt is a slightly altered Jedi tunic.
Underneath the shirt, I wore a longsleeve under shirt to accurately portray the reference photos. I also wore white leggings under the skirt just to complete the look.

Wig 1 Seems I can't own a wig these days without it being NER approved. :P
Wig 2 This was my first attempt at a bun. LOL
Wig 3 To create a nice tight bun, I placed the wig on the headform and stuck bobby-pins around the crown to hold it in place. Then, securing the headform in place, I pulled at the hair gently until it was nice and snug in a bun.
Wig 4 I was really happy with the overall look of it, it just didn't look well with my dark hair underneath, so more work will need to be done in that department.
Wig 5 This is what I wrapped the bun with after it was secured in place to achieve the look in Reference 1.
Wig 6 They're a little more fancy than I would've liked, but they did the job.
Pattern 1 I hand drew the pattern in blue using as many reference photos as I could. I tried to grab most of the key elements: parallel/vertical/horizontal lines, a large circle, a diamond, and a swirl. I designed the pattern so it would be repeating, the bottom of my blue pattern matches the top. :) If you would like a copy of this, you'll have to e-mail me for it. ;)
Pattern 2 I placed a tabbard tightly on cardboard and slipped the pattern underneath it.
Pattern 3 I used pins to help, but in the end found they weren't really that necessary.
Pattern 4 From this point, it was nothing but tracing. I first traced in pencil to avoid any massive mistakes.
Pattern 5 then I went over the pencil with a dark gray fabric marker purchased from Michaels. It worked out just as I imagined, so I was very happy with it. I reveresed the pattern from one tabbard to the other, to avoid symmetrical look. I wanted to achieve a more random looking pattern as in Reference 3, which I did.
Boots 1 Ok, the boots were last minute, so I am hoping to redo them as there is much room for improvement. I used an old pair of Jedi boots and glued strips of the dress fabric on in a mummy fashion.
Boots 2 Reference 1 & 2 show as much of the boots as I would hope to see, so I know this is the right pattern, but I didn't intend to use a black boot as a base.
Boots 3 Regardless of the color, they still looked really well once they were fully covered.
Boots 4 When I redo these, I'll want to use a white boot that doesn't come up so high
Boots 5 Because these boots had a zipper, I intentionally covered it with the fabric, making sure to use a lot of glue around the edges, and then just cut straight down along the zippy. It was a quick last minute fix.
Workstation A photo showing the wig, boots, pattern, and other materials used to complete the costume.
Complete 1 Here I am on stage at Farpoint. I dont have a closer pic of me wearing it unfortately. But a lot of people took my picture at the con, so I'm sure there's one of me somewhere online. LOL.
Complete 2 I won a workmanship award :) Not bad, but I still want to fix my wig and boots. I couldn't have done it without Kristin though! "Tanya, you rocked that cos..." View Comments...
Complete 3 You can see the wig issue here, but otherwise, I was a very happy Jedi Historian that night. :) Good luck to anyone who is up for the challenge!
