We no longer ship puppies, everything must be  picked-up. WE DO NOT SELL PUPPIES SITE UNSEEN ..

==============2011 FUN EXPANSION PROJECT============
In the coming year we will be very busy. Loretta has plans to add a large exercise yard. We have torn down the older smaller one. The new one will be loaded with fun toys. And we won't forget the new pool(s). Like the Lab's would let us LOL. We will add a few more kennels for extra room and visiting dogs. We will start as soon as the weather permits. The first step will be taking out some of the old horse lot (as I only have one left, He doesn't need so much) and purchasing a few more items. All summer Loretta has been picking up kenneling and fencing. This will be a ton of work but, well worth it. It will look great, once everything is done as we have planned .
UPDATE9/14/11: Over the past weekend,we put up our big excercise run and are the labs enjoying it..It's not fully 100% completed as I started a full time job,so we'll gradually finish it up as we can.

I have plans as well, but we will have to see how it all pans out, as the time nears.
10/08/11 The gears in my head have been turning. No really physical changes yet. But, boy you should all my plans on paper. Of course I change my mind or think of something new and back to square one. I want it perfect. It's driving my hubby nutty.
5/22/12 Well I have my first cement slab down as of 5/15/12 and it looks great. Loretta and her hubby Shawn were on hand to help. A huge thanks to both of them. And another for Scott our favy concrete guy from Bogen Concrete. Thanks a ton guys. Wow one step closer. About several more to go.

Our Rat Terriers
3. Our Rat Terriers  (April 30, 2006)
** About The Rat Terrier**
The Rat Terrier is an American Dog Breed with a rich and varied background as an all-around hunting dog.Traditionally more of a type than a breed they share much ancestry with tough little mixed breed dogs known as " fiests". Comon throughout America on family farms in the 1920s and 30s, they generally considered a rare breed. Today's Rat Terrier is an intelligent, active little dog that equally cherished as a house helper, vermin hunter and a family pet.
**Appearance -- The Rat Terrier comes from in a variety of coat colors and patterns. The "Classic: base is black tanpoint with piebald spotting (known as "black tricolor"), but the blue and brown tri colors are also common, along wth red, sable, lemon, burnt orange, and other colors set off by varying amounts of white spotting. Ticking is usually visible in the white parts of the coat,or in the underlying skin. Ear carriage can be erect, tipped,or button, all of which contribute to an intelligent, alert expression. The tail has been traditionally docked to about 2-3 inches, but bobtail gene is very common in Rat Terriers and can result in a variety of tail lengths. Today, some breeders prefer natural, undocked tail, which is accepted in the breed standards.Rat Terrier comes in three sizes:Toy,Mini, and Standard. The Toy Rat Terrier requires selective breeding and weighs ten pounds or less. The Mini Rat Terrier is produced by selective mating and weighs between 10 and 18 pounds. Capable hunter, a good treeing dog,and exceptional pet. The Standard (ratting or squirrel type )weighs between 18-28 lbs.Natural ratter & very popular in the southern United States. As a squirrel dog, this size Rat Terrier, is most versatile. He is used for catching varmints and killing snakes, possum, akunka, and raccoon.
** Temperament-- Although often mistaken for a Jack Russell Terrier, the Rat Terrier has different profile and a very different temperament. Rat Terriers are finer of bone and have a more refined head. They always have a short single coat, they are never wire coated. Rat Terriers tend to be less aggressive than Jack Russells;while they have a definite terrier personality they also have an "off switch" and love lounging on the sofa in a lap as much as tearing about the yard. Rat Terriers are normally cheerful dogs, and they tend to be clamer and more sensitive than Jack Russells to changes in their environment, owner's moods, or to unexpected noises, people, and activites. The "social sensitivity" of Rat Terriers makes them very trainable and easier to live with for the average pet owner, but it also means that extensive socialization from an early age is critical.Proper socialization of a Rat Terrier puppy includes exposing the animal to a wide variety of people and places, particularly during the first three months of life. Like most active and intelligent breeds,Rat Terriers tend to be happier when they receive a great deal of mental stimulation and exercise.
** History-- The breed name comes from the occupation of its earliest brought to the US by working class British migrants, these quick, tough little dogs gained their fame in rat pit gambling. However they were, for the most part, bred for speed.Their speed is used for controlling vermin and hunting squirrels, hare, and other small game.Like all terriers of this type,Rat Terriers most likely developed from crosses among breeds like the English White Terrier,Manchester Terrier,Smooth Fox Terrier, and Whippet. After the 1890s, as the breed type became popular in America, other breeds were added to the mix.Beagle,Italian Greyhounds,Miniature Pinschers, and Chihuahuas were likely used to add scenting ability, speed, and smaller size. Many of the foundation Rat Terriers were indistinguishable from small mixed-breed hunting dogs known as "feists". The smaller varieties were split off from the Rat Terrier very early on,registered by the UKC as the Toy Fox Terrier beginning in 1936. The genetic diversity of the Rat Terrier is undoubtly its greatest asset, and is responsible for the overall health, keen intelligence, and soundness of the breed.

Our Labrador Retrievers
4. Our Labrador Retrievers    (April 30, 2006)
** History of the Labrador **
The original Labradors were all-purpose water dogs originating in Newfoundland, not Labrador. Not only did the breed not originate in Labrador, but it also was not originally called the Labrador Retriever. The Newfoundland of the early 1800s came in different sizes, one of which was the  " Lessaer " or " St. John's " Newfoundland -- the earliest incarnation of the Labrador. These dogs-- medium - sized black dogs with close hair - not only retrieved game but also retrieved through icy water, and helped the fisherman in any task involving swimming. Eventually the breed died out in Newfoundland in large part because of the heavy dog tax. However, a core of Labradors had been taken to England in the early 1800s,and it is from these dogs, along with crosses to other retrievers, that the breed continued. It was also in England that the breed earned its reputation as an extraordinary retriever of upland game. Initially breeders favored blk labs and culled yellow, or chocolate colors. By the early 1900s, the other colors had come acceptable, although still not widely favored as the blacks. The breed was recognized by the English Kennel in 1903 and by the AKC in 1917.The popularity of this breed has grown steadily until it became the most popular breed in America in 1991 and remains so today.
                        ** Temperament **
Few breeds so richly deserve their popularity as does the Labrador Retriever. When trained, it is obedient and amiable, and tolerates well the antics of children, other dogs, and other pets. It will be calm housedog, playful yard dog, and intense field dog, all on the same day. It is a powerful breed that loves to swim and retrieve. It needs daily physical and mental challenges to keep it occupied, however; a bored Lab can get into trouble. The Labrador's hunting instinct drives it to roam: breeders say " his home is under his hate."
                           ** Upkeep **
Labradors are active and sociable dogs. They daily exercise, preferably in the form of retrieving swimming. Owners with swimming pools either must fence them out or be prepared to share the pool with a dog. The Lab coat sheds water easily. It needs weekly brushing to remove dead hair. Although Labs can live outdoors in temperate climates, they are much happier indoors with their family.
                            ** Form & Function **
The Labrador is a moderate dog, not extreme in any way. It is square or slightly longer than tall, of fairly large bone and substance. It’s broad head and strong jaws should enable it to carry the largest game bird, such as a Canada geese. It’s heavy body set and strong legs enable it to swim and run powerfully. Its coat, which is short, straight, and dense with a soft undercoat, is weatherproof and helps to protect it from icy waters. The Lab is a working retriever and should possess style without clumsiness.
Suggested tests : hip, elbow, eye & knee
Life span : 10-12 yrs
Weight : male 65-80 lbs & 22.5 -24.5 " in height

Before & After Construction of Kennels
11. Before & After Construction of Kennels  (October 8, 2006)
From Dec. '04 - May '06, we did a complete change in our kennels. We had a few with genetic problems & a few that simply would not care for there wee ones from the time they began to whelp. This also gave us a chance to redo our kennels. All of our kennels are about 1 ft off the ground,we do have a bigger pen, that's on the ground like an exercise pen .
Since we lost our vehicles & our home we had to move,to our current location on Jun 30,08.
I have placed pictures, for you to see our set-up. Every summer it seems that we remodeling our kenneling system. Hopefully summer 2010, we will be adding more kenneling and pens in our shed. I only hope that some day we can afford to give them extra heat during the winter and A/C during the  summer.  Being that the labs are a hunting type of a dog, we thought it would be harder on them for not have a lot of heat, they are also more of a harder dog then the rat terriers. We do have 2 buildings that have heating lamps available during the winter time.
All the kenneling are surrounded with sheds & plenty of trees, this also helps for wind breakage during the winter. I have found it easier on everyone this past winter'08/'09, then in the previous years.( where we used to live )
Every morning ( temps permitted ), I'm outside hosing down kennels & feeding everyone, water buckets are scrubbed as needed, do to algie/lime coming from the water. The pens are scrubbed down as needed as well..
I would love to have a better set-up then we have, but this will have to do for now.
All the puppies are fed Pride Puppy & the adults Pride Adult ...

NOTE: Summer of 2010 we sold out our shetland sheepdogs & as well as found homes for some of our adults labs, that were unable to pass hip/OFA & CERF/eye exams... The kennels you see are in the same position, but not the same & also we have fewer dogs as well.. Once we start our new set-up,we will be taking new pics along the way. This is a goal we have set to be started for spring/summer 2011... It will look awesome after it's completed.. We have plans on creating a nice size run for our labs and ratties, throughout, the summer 2010 we have been purchasing fencing as well as kenneling for this project & yes, this was a goal we have been planning since spring 2010..

11/18/12 - Oh boy I'm behind in taking pictures of our new run and pics, well once the grass is green, instead of brown with leaves and our buildings remodeled,it would look so much better.

*** NEW construction has started 8/13/14 ***
Since our AKC inspection recommended that we go with plastic flooring that's, we've proceeded in trying to find the correct flooring for the dogs, although the colors was a little darker then I wanted but the colors did make a great pattern. So I hope that this all works out like I wanted, the material is coming from Alpha Building in Shipshewana, IN and  then from Renewed plastics. Basically called PLASTIC LUMBER.. Ha Ha  doggies ,no more digging at my wooden flooring  !!   Check it out & tell us what u think..
