Rescue (May 15, 2005)To inquire about any dog listed here see link below photo.
Please anyone wanting to add a pet to their family take the time to consider a rescue. Also please understand it is a lifelong commitment. Consider adopting a shelter pet and ensure that it is spayed or neutered. There are many wonderful pets in need of loving homes.
There are a number of organizations that rescue Rat Terriers in need of homes. They have both Rat Terrier adults and puppies that need to be adopted. Don't rule them out because of their location, they often have ways of getting their dogs to their new homes across the country free of charge to the new owner.
To see what they have available and how you can help, see the list of rescue sites listed below:
Ratbone Rescue: www.ratbonerescues.com/"
New Rattitude Rescue: www.newrattitude.org"
Rat Terrier ResQ: http://www.ratterrierresq.com/index.php"
Companion Animal Protection Society: www.caps-web.org/"
If you don't buy one of our babies please do buy from a responsible breeder. If you buy from a pet store you are buying from a broker that buys from a puppy mill. PLEASE DO NOT support puppy mills. Check out this site to be a better informed buyer: www.nopuppymills.com
** 60% of all dogs that enter shelters do not come out alive. The majority come from neglect or abuse.

Top 100 Decker Rat Terrier Breeders
Here's the short version of our story: In 2000 we got our first Decker (although we'd had Terriers for years) and named him "Decker" The next year my husband wanted a couple of pups to take hunting & started looking for a female that suited him. It was not as easy back then to find a Decker as it is now. We talked with all the Decker breeders we could find then. In March of 2002 we aquired Cindy as a 2 year old adult.
If in a couple of years the 2 pups we kept from her 1st mating are healthy/quality examples of the Deckers, we will breed them in an effort to continue the line. These potential breedings will not be based solely on percentages, but on what the dogs have to offer with relation to structure, health, hunting ability, and temperament.
Our main concern is the placement of the pups we breed, and their welfare/happiness is of the utmost importance to us. While I do realize that one can never be completely assured that their placement will be what we consider a success, we must try our best to find them homes in which they will get adequate attention. This attention includes providing them with sufficient time with their human companions and sufficient training to insure that all will have a harmonious relationship. We make it known to all the families that if they're not happy with their pup/dog that we will take it back. We never want any to end up in a shelter, neglected or unwanted. |
