Adding a pet to your family does not have to be a seasonal decision when considering one of our pups. We paper-train our pups from 4 weeks old so even in cold weather they are trained to go on the wee-wee pads and do not necessarily have to be trained to go out right away. The pet stores carry dog litter pans that hold the pad and they can be trained to go only in this area. This is also a great option for the pup as they can be left home for a half day. You don't have to worry about running home and letting them out as they go on the pads. With a pup it is highly advisable to have a penned in area for their safety. You can find these playpens at PetSmart and Toys r Us (same item only difference is a pic of the dog or a baby). Toys r Us was less expensive. Crate should always be small so pup will not go in crate but go into the penned area and go on the pads. 1 - 6 of 6 Total. |

Busy Bee and Our Breeding Program We started breeding in 2003 and to date have produced 9 litters for a total of 50 pups, all born healthy and to date, as far as we know, are all still healthy. We have a variety of colors and produced several different colors of pups. Mature weight of pups is determined by breeding pair and have ranged from 8 to 14 lbs. We will be adding a new breeding female at the end of October. She is a beautiful chocolate tri-colored female and is a standard, weighing approx. 20 lbs. We will have 3 breeding females, Jazzy - 11 lbs, Sami - 14 lbs. and Sugar 20 lbs, producing a variety of sizes and colors to meet the demands of future rat terrier owners. We will also be adding a new breeder from northeast Illinois to our site. I only do this because her dogs are either born here or bred to our dogs so she will join our family soon, in 2009. More info to come.
For info regarding upcoming litters, please see the album labelled "About Busy Bee and Our Breeding Program".
Come back in November and visit us for updates. |

Busy Bee Females CONGRATULATIONS JAZZY! Jasmine was awarded the Champion of Merit for 2005. She is our little Beauty. For 2009, we have 3 breeding females and 3 planned litters.
JASMINE LILLY is now 4 years. We are planning her third litter for early fall, 2009. This is tentative as we may wait due to the fact that we will have 2 litters prior.
SAMANTHA ROSE is our newest addtion, from Bear x Ozzy's litter of 12-20-2006. She is our choice to take her mama's place in our breeding program in mid to late 2008 or early 2009. It is likely that she will have her first litter early in March, 2009. We are really excited as she is a mini Bear, very laid back, sweet and gentle. We adore her.
Bear has been a wonderful mother and loved being a mom, but she is no longer a breeding female, she deserves a good life and we have retired her this year. She pitched in when Sophie had her pups and the pups had two moms.
Sophie is no longer one of our breeding females, due to birthing complications. |

Forms, Pedigree, New Puppy & Food Info I have collected these articles over the years to help new families with any issues or questions they might have. I have gathered info from several issues of magazines & made them available to help prepare you for your new arrival. I will have a few more to give with puppy packets. If you will be picking up a puppy soon, please read to help you get acquainted with him or her. Knowledge is the power and key to success. There are many myths about puppies, most are just that. If you have any questions or concerns after reading, please feel free to contact us. You do need Adobe Acrobat Reader as these have been made into PDF Files. If you do not have Acrobat Reader you can download for free at Adobe.com it is a trusted site.
Here is a copy of our Sales/Health Contract, Pedigree (printed out on glossy photo paper), and puppy adoption questionnaire, to see if a rat terrier is right for you.
One often overlooked detail is a pedigree. This is included with the price of the puppy and I don't know if most people realize that to get a pedigree from the kennel clubs cost about $10 per generation for a minimum of three generations so $30 is the least you will pay and it does not include the coat colors, pictures or registration numbers of the ancestors.
Also, very important, is the food you feed your puppy. We use Flint River Ranch Holistic food that can be ordered and delivered to your door within 2 days. I have been using this food for about 4 years & it is the food of choice. It is easliy diegestable, contains no corn and the ingredients are all human grade, no junk or garbage plus no dyes which are not good to give your pups or dogs. If you choose not to continue to feed this food, please use the following guidelines when feeding your pup: First & foremost, the first ingredient on any dog food should be chicken or lamb, the protein which just like humans, is very important. Dyes are bad (again just like humans)& the reality is, dyed food is for the human eye, not the dogs as dogs have no idea red are carrots, etc. Many dogs have or develop stomach irrations and allergies to corn so if at all possible, eliminate this filler. Your pup will come with a 1 lb. bag of food. If you decided to feed a different brand, you will need to mix our food gradually in with the new food to get their digestive system use to it slowly. Switching food will cause diarreah. |

Pet Pawkets I have stumbled onto a wonderful new product, made specifically for Rat Terriers and Terriers in general, it is called "Pet Pawkets". It is a unique design that puts the dog bed together with a blanket for that perfect 'Snuggle' that all ratties love. It is 100% washable, made with a heavy soft fleece fabric, very nice quality and our dogs absolutely love it! They come in different sizes and patterns - made specifically to pamper your rat terrier as we all know how much they love to climb under the covers. This may be your opportunity to claim back your bed as once they get a taste of this comfort, they won't want to sleep anywhere else! Check out the pictures of Mama Bear, she is loving it............
For more info on sizes, pricing and patterns please use this link to the website Pet Pawkets and tell her "Busy Bee sent me." I would never promote something I didn't try and love, makes a great gift too! |
