Astraeus Airlines (updated, Nov. 2007)Well established British carrier that has successfully served the Sierra Leonean community for the past 3 years. Twice weekly service operates London (Gatwick) to Freetown, Lungi and now Robertsfield Astraeus adds extra flights for the Christmas and Easter busy periods. Get all your information on BRITAIN on the web. Get information on GATWICK or HEATHROW and be prepared. Don't forget your E Fast track VISA. FOR THE 2007 HOLIDAY PERIOD, ASTRAEUS ALLOWS A DEPOSIT, WITH FINAL BALANCE DUE BY OCTOBER 14.

Bellview Airlines (updated, Sept. 2007)Bellview Airlines SL. This Sierra Leonean registered service is an offspring of Bellview Airlines Inc, a Nigerian based carrier serving not only West and Southern Africa but now Europe and Asia.
Don't forget your VISA INFORMATION.
Bellview entered the market July 2005 flying from LONDON HEATHROW using a 767 wide body jet. The flight continues (southbound) to Lagos and on the return arrives back into HEATHROW after 8pm.

BRITISH AIRWAYS now BRITISH MIDLAND (September 2007)After commencing service to Sierra Leone via Dakar in late 2006 as British Airways/BMED, service has continued steadily but not without incident. On September 4th, BA/BMED quietly transitioned to BRITISH MIDLAND (the 2nd largest carrier serving HEATHROW AIRPORT. BMED was purchased from BA about 7 months ago with little fan fair.
With LOW SEASON prices ranging from $1595 (NEW YORK,NEWARK,WASHINGTON,BOSTON)Nov1-Dec 14 & Dec 28-MID MARCH and SHOULDER SEASON prices from $1880 (April1-Jun 30) this is still a great option. A free stop is allowed in London (clients will be required to then pay a British airport departure tax-incl. in ticket). There is also a liberal 9month validity applicable to most tickets.
The program on Virgin Atlantic/British Midland will continue. British Midland is part of the Star Alliance, meaning better options to connect and ADD FREQUENT FLYER MILEAGE. The STAR ALLIANCE group includes AIR CANADA, UNITED & US AIRWAYS which means clients will hopefully have 2 additional options to connect directly from their home cities. Another encouraging change is that LUGGAGE & PASSENGER TRANSFER is within the same CENTRAL TRANSIT POINT. BRITISH MIDLAND uses this CTP which makes up Terminal 1,2,3. Service into Freetown,Dakar will be onboard an Airbus 321 allowing for more seating categories and hopefully better availability.
